Iren is a multiutility company with strong local roots deriving from its history. For over 100 years, it has provided services and created infrastructure for the communities where it was founded, in Emilia, Liguria, Piedmont and the province of Salerno.
This link with the local areas is constantly reaffirmed by the value generated where the company operates, in terms of economic, employment, social and cultural benefits.
In recent years, the Group has launched a policy focused on acquisitions that has led to territorial expansion beyond the traditional geographic boundaries of areas where the initial companies were founded.
Nevertheless, Iren is a truly national enterprise, with sales of electricity and gas and commercial environmental services active across Italy, and the development strategy is strongly focused on the country as a whole.
