IRETI Spa wins the tender for the selection of the private shareholder of the mixed company ARCA (Azienda Reggiana per la Cura dell’Acqua) for the management of the integrated water service in the Province of Reggio Emilia

ATERSIR, the Emilia-Romagna Territorial Agency for Water and Waste Services, with resolution 343 of 28 December 2022, proceeded with the award in favor of Ireti spa of the tender for the selection of the private shareholder of ARCA (Azienda Reggiana per La Cura dell’Acqua), a mixed company that will handle the management of the Integrated Water Service in the Province of Reggio Emilia which includes 41 Municipalities (excluding Toano) for more than 500,000 inhabitants served.

In fact, the Area Council had resolved that the assignment of the management of the integrated water service be entrusted to a company with mixed public and private participation, with a private industrial shareholder chosen through a public competitive procedure. The mixed company Arca srl will hold the concession for the integrated water service for the province of Reggio Emilia, expected to start from 1 January 2024 and will have a term of 17 years. The estimated value of the integrated water service subject to the assignment will be 1 billion and 255 million euros.

 

In its plan, IRETI envisages important investments in the networks and plants of the integrated water cycle aimed mainly at reducing water losses, currently equal to around 23% (much lower than the national average of 40%), and the reduction of energy consumption. Furthermore, the plan includes the restructuring, upgrading and new construction of works and systems of the sewerage network and ordinary maintenance of the treatment plants.
