Prelude
The goal of the PRELUDE project is to test innovative building and facility management solutions, free-running mode (FRM), self-consumption, and renewable energy integration across various pilot projects in Europe. The project aims to ensure a technology-neutral, scalable approach that can be applied from individual buildings to entire districts, in different climate contexts and with varying levels of automation. In alignment with European building renovation and energy efficiency targets, PRELUDE will develop a range of tools for technical-economic feasibility analyses and solutions integration for both hardware and software.
Technologically, PRELUDE aims to integrate multiple physical and mathematical models developed by project partners, data from various pilot sites, and the monitoring and control systems of pilot assets into a single modular platform/middleware, based on FusiX (a metadata infrastructure and Decision Support System – DSS), developed in previous EU projects. IREN and IREN Smart Solutions are participating as coordinators of the Italian pilot: a building in Turin, selected from Smart Solutions' portfolio, where eight apartments will be equipped with various levels of sensors, automation, and direct feedback to residents (via app or similar tools).
Incit EV
The project focuses on direct current (DC) car charging, aiming to eliminate the need for an alternating current (AC) to DC converter inside the vehicles. This would also bring benefits in terms of charging speed. The proposed solution involves connecting to the tram power grid, with charging stations capable of delivering alternating current. The project is being developed in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Turin, IVECO, GTT, and the City of Turin. A demonstration is currently being set up in Piazzale Caio Mario, at an auto/public transport interchange parking lot, where users can leave their cars to charge while continuing their journey by tram or bus.
