Chairperson - Paolo Peveraro

Chairperson of Iren S.p.A. since May 2016
Born in Castel San Giovanni (prov. Piacenza, Italy) in 1956, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business from the University of Turin. He is a Statutory Auditor registered with the Italian Association of Certified Accountants. Since the year 2000, he has been an external lecturer at the University of Turin. Since September 2012, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of both Fondazione Opera di San Camillo and Fondazione Ospedale San Camillo IRCCS of Venice. From April 2010 to May 2016 he was Senior Advisor for one of the main consulting firms worldwide with responsibility at the national level in the public and non-profit sectors.  From May 2012 to April 2015 he was the Chairperson of Iren's Board of Statutory Auditors. He has held the role of Statutory Auditor in numerous companies. From June 1997 to April 2010 he held important positions in Public Administrations (Municipality of Turin and the Piedmont regional authority). From December 1979 to June 1997 he worked in one of the most important auditing firms worldwide. Director since 1986, he became an international associate and manager at the national level for litigation services.


Deputy Chairperson - Ettore Rocchi

Born in Reggio Emilia in 1964, he has a high school diploma with specialisation in Classical Studies, and in 1989 he received a Bachelor’s degree with honours in Law from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. Since 1992, he has been a member of the Bar of Reggio Emilia and he has been a lawyer at the Court of Cassation since 2014. He is an associate professor of Business Law in the Department of Law at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. He teaches in Master’s, Graduate and PhD programs collaborating with several research institutes and scientific journals, and is the author of various scientific publications. He has participated in numerous seminars and conferences as a lecturer and speaker. His educational and research activities focus on the fields of corporate law, financial market law, banking law and industrial property and competition law. He has held and currently holds administrative and auditing positions in medium-large sized companies. Since 1995, he has gained specialised expertise through administrative roles held at companies operating in the local public services and utilities sectors.

CEO - Massimiliano Bianco

CEO of Iren S.p.A. since 2014
Born in 1971, he holds a Bachelor’s Degree with honours from Bocconi University in Milan; he has extensive professional experience in the utilities sector. Before arriving at Iren, he was with Federutility (now UTILITALIA) – an association of local public services companies in the electricity, gas, water and waste sectors - where, as General Manager and thanks to his experience in the field, he was -among other things - also a representative of the Commissioner of the Spending Review and the Government in drafting of the 2015 Stability Law in relation to the “Rationalising of local publicly-invested Companies”. Previously from 2005–2013 he was General Manager of Acquedotto Pugliese, a leading operator of public services and infrastructure in Southern Italy. In this role he successfully worked on the relaunch of the company resulting in a significant improvement in service quality, infrastructural framework and the main financial/economic indicators. Mr Bianco also gained significant experience from 1996 to 2005 in the financial sector (primarily focussing on utilities and infrastructure) at Gallo & Co. (Gruppo Meliorbanca, a leading independent investment bank that was listed on the Stock Exchange at the time). He held roles of increasing responsibility, until eventually becoming General Manager and ultimately CEO.
